Fourth of July Food Frenzy

This post may contain affiliate links. I receive a small commission if you choose to purchase through the links at no additional cost to you.

My cousin and I love being able to create new treats at our family parties. For the past few days, we have been looking up some fun and creative red, white, and blue food ideas to mess around with. I stumbled across these ideas through Pinterest and Google and figured I would share them with you.
Unfortunately, I don’t have some of the original sites that these ideas came from, but I will definitely help ya’ll out with the ingredients and preparation that I would use to assemble these creations. If anyone knows of the original locations of these dishes feel free to comment so I can give credit where credit is due!
1. Firecracker Skewers
Ingredients:
1. Skewer Sticks
2. Blueberries
3. Watermelon
4. Star Shaped Cookie Cutter
Procedure:
Cut up the watermelon into thin enough slices and then use the cookie cutter to make star shapes. Then assemble the blueberries and watermelon on the stick as shown above. Enjoy this simple and healthy choice!
 2. Red, White, and Blue Strawberries
Ingredients:
1. Strawberries
2. White Chocolate
3. Blue Sprinkles
Procedure:
Wash the strawberries. Melt the white chocolate and dip the strawberries half way in the white chocolate and then dip them in the bowl of sprinkles and set aside to dry.
I think this is a great idea, but if you want a little less sweet you could always make the cream cheese and marshmallow cream fruit dip that I find DIVINE instead of the white chocolate. You can find that recipe here!
 3. Fourth of July Fruit Platter
Ingredients:
1. Strawberries
2. Blueberries
3. Fruit Dip
Procedure:
After washing all the fruit, assemble them into an American Flag shape onto a platter*. After mixing the fruit dip together use a piping bag/decorating bag** to swirl the fruit dip in between each row.
*It looks as though there may be a crust underneath the fruit, however I am not exactly sure what is used.
**If a piping bag is not available on spot, an alternative is to store the dip in a Ziploc baggie and cut off one tip of the corner of the bottom of the bag and squeeze that way.

4. Cake Poppin’ Flag

The original location for this dish is at My Juice Cup, which also shows other cute decorated pops in addition to this platter!
Ingredients:
1. Candy melts for dipping and coating the cake pops
2. Crock pots for keeping the chocolate melted
3. Waxed paper to catch drips on the work surface
4. Sprinkles and decorations in red, white and blue
Procedure:Everything to create this look is located here. Its a bit more complicated and I don’t want to mix up any procedures as I have not attempted this dish yet.
5. Cookie Cutter Fruit Salad
This one is one of my favorite dishes. Amanda Wright over at Wit & Whistle assembled this dish after stumbling across a similar dish. I think it is just so cute and simple! Check it out using the link above!
Ingredients:
1. Strawberries
2. Blueberries
3. Watermelon
4. Star Shaped Cookie Cutter
5. White Raspberries (not pictured above, but mentioned on Wit & Whistle)*
Procedure:After cleaning the fruit, cut up the strawberries into slices as well as cutting the watermelon and using the star shaped cookie cutter to create the shape. Mix all fruit in a serving bowl and TA-DA!
*If you cannot find White Raspberries, another alternative would be to serve the fruit salad with my favorite fruit dip OR you can dip/drizzle the strawberries in some melted white chocolate before tossing them in the salad.
5. Patriotic Fruit Flag
This is the dish my cousin and I are going to attempt to create for the upcoming holiday!
Ingredients:
1. Skewers
2. Strawberries
3. Blueberries
4. Bananas
Procedure:
Make sure you have a platter to create this look. Assemble sliced bananas* and strawberries on to the skewers. 11 Skewers were used in this photo and five of them contained blueberries on approximately half of the skewer.
*Make sure you cut the bananas into thicker slices and all about the same size to create the striped look.

What are you doing for the FOURTH OF JULY? Let me know of any dishes you like to make for this day and if you attempt any of the dishes above.
